These shorts are inspired by domestic textile, circa 1950s West Africa. This is a historical reproduction of the traditional West African Kondi-gulei made by the Mende people. We worked with weavers in India to make the cloth more durable than the traditional strip woven style. This silhouette is reminiscent of traditional rugby shorts worn throughout Canada by way of England.
