This workwear jacket is made from a 1890's quilt based on a charm quilt.
This type of quilt may have been connected to the trend of Button Charm Strings (of young women collecting and stringing 999 buttons together, with the 1000th button being supplied by her future husband and strung after they wed). This jacket consists of calicos and pastel solid cotton patches.

Six buttons on front
