This long sleeve Havana shirt is made from a turn of the century bow tie quilt top with calicos. Repeating squares of calicos throughout. The bow tie quilt originated in the 1880's. Historically, this quilt pattern, also known as the "necktie" pattern was used by the Underground Railroad, and is said to have been used to produce secret quilt codes in groups of blocks.
